Donation Policies

The Seward Animal Shelter is under direct management of the Police Department, and shelter employees cannot accept gratuities (i.e. donations) under current municipal code. If you would like to make a donation you can do one of the following:

• If you want to donate to the New Animal Shelter, money and checks can be dropped off at City Hall with the utilities cashier.

• If you want to make a tax deductible donation to the New Animal Shelter account that SOS Pets manages, make your check to SOS Pets* and write "New Animal Shelter" on the memo line. There is a secure drop box at the animal shelter or you can mail your check to PO Box 3003, Seward, AK 99664 or you can donate online. 

• If you want to make a tax deductible donation to the day-to-day general operations of the shelter, make your check to SOS Pets* and write "operations" on the memo line. There is a secure drop box at the animal shelter or you can mail your check to PO Box 3003, Seward, AK 99664 or you can donate online. 

• Material items like food, blankets, towels, toys, treats, etc. can be dropped off at City Hall. There is a drop box at the Police Department at the west entrance to the City building.
  * Checks made to SOS Pets are considered tax deductible.
